Honest product reviews for the savvy consumer.

I received this product for reviewing purposes.  The price tag is over $50 CAD.  There are several gel like moisturizers on the market right now.  I have tried a few and they all feel the same on my skin.  This one has little bit of something different than the others I have tried because when applied to the face it has a cooling sensation that feels quite nice.

This night time moisturizer feels nice on the skin and absorbs quite quickly.  In the morning when I wash my face though, I can feel that I am washing the product off.  This is true of all of the gel moisturizers I have tried.  This one, like others is also heavily fragranced, it does dissipate with wear though.  I used it for several weeks and because I have oily skin, I didn’t see much of a difference.  I think this would be better suited for someone who has dry skin.  It is a very nice product and it would probably have better benefits for me during the winter months when my skin is less oily.

I’ve had this palette since Sephora’s VIB Spring Sale.  I wanted to try it because of the hype but was very unsure about spending the money on it.  The gal at Sephora told me if I didn’t like it, I could return it, so with my discount I got it for $85 CAD.  I guess you have realized that I haven’t returned it!

When I first started using it, I didn’t think it was all that special and I did consider returning it, but after playing with the colours for a few days it easily became one of my favourites!  The colours are very pigmented and they blend beautifully.  I usually like a little bit of sparkle in my eyeshadow, but with this palette, I don’t miss it.  The matte colours give rich colour and that white is perfect!

There are a couple of cooler colours in this mostly warm palette so I find it has quite a bit of versatility.  When I saw the orange colour, I thought that I would never use it, but surprisingly I add it to a lot of my looks.  The nice thing  about these shadows is they don’t fade, they hold their colour right through to the end of the day and still looks as though I had just applied them.  So I guess the question is,  “Are they worth the money?” I’d have to say yes!  Once I figured out some colour combinations, I was thrilled with this matte palette.  I would buy another in a heartbeat, but only during another Sephora VIB sale!

I couldn’t walk away, this colour was so pretty I had to pick up Fresh Peach for $16 CAD.  I really enjoy a good lip gloss and this one is a good one!

Fresh Peach is has a lovely shimmer which just looks lovely on the lips.  It applies smoothly and is not sticky, I kept rubbing my lips together the first time I wore it because the slip to it was so nice.  Surprisingly, this lip gloss stayed on very well, even after eating there was residual gloss and colour left.  The applicator is an hourglass shape, and is very easy to use, I think this could be one of my favourite shaped applicators as it hugs your lips during application.  I’m happy to have found this gloss, it’s nice to use and oh so pretty too!

Have you ever walked by something then suddenly took a few steps backwards to see what it was?  That was me with this product!  This was new to me and I had heard nothing about it.  I picked up the colour 105 Gel-Ful for about $8 CAD.  My first thought was how similar it looked to Too Faced Melted Lipsticks.

The squeeze tube brings the lipstick up through the sponge tip applicator.  It is a bit stiff, but it applied the lipstick quite nicely.  I needed two coats for full opacity.  The website suggests you blot after application, but if you don’t put too much on, there is really no need to.

This is not a long wearing product, but it did manage hold some colour through a coffee and later some lunch.  Touch ups are easy and does not build up or flake.  There was a handful of odd colours to choose from ranging from brown to blue, bright purples and some reds.  This one was the only one I would consider nude and it leans more on the warm peach side.  This colour is also quite different from the colour of the tube which looks a little more pink mauve.  It’s a nice lipstick, it’s comfortable and it wears well, you can’t ask for more than that!

After several attempts to get my hands on this mascara, Shoppers Drug Mart finally had some in stock.  I picked it up for $4.99 CAD.  I had heard that this mascara had some great reviews and I wanted to try it myself.

I was quite impressed right off the bat!  It applied easily without clumping and my lashes looked pretty darned good.  Another coat and my lashes were longer than they had looked in a very long time.  I was instantly sold!  The mascara wore very nicely and stayed on without smudging for the entire day.  I had a few very tiny specks of flaking, almost not worth mentioning.  I tried it with a primer and no more tiny specks!  I had a slight problem taking the mascara off.  It wanted to stay on, I used several methods over time, eye makeup remover and micellar water included, I would think that I got it all off, but woke each morning with black smudges underneath my eyes.  This mascara was on for the long haul.  If you don’t mind a little work with removal, this mascara is an inexpensive long wearing, quality product!

New products at Walmart, of course I had to stop and take a look.  I found this palette interesting because it had some fairly light and neutral colours in it and I liked them all.  I bought it for $9.97 CAD.

This palette has a highlighter, two blushes and a bronzer (FYI-the picture in the bottom right hand corner is much darker than the actual palette).  The blushes look fairly similar, but no so on the face.  The highlighter is also natural and very pretty.  The bronzer is just right for my skin tone.  An awesome feature is that the squares of product are removable and if you have another Elf palette, you can completely customize it with the colours you use most often.  The products wear very well and keep their colour all day long without oxidizing.  This face palette is extremely natural looking, but all of the products are buildable if you need a more intense look.  The packaging looks great as well, it’s sleek and silver and has a mirror in the lid.  For under $10 this palette is a great deal with usable pretty colours.

I never realized that e.l.f. had more than one lip exfoliator.  My favourite one had big chunks of sugar in it and I thought this one was just a different flavour.  I picked it up at Walmart for $3.97 CAD.  I had it for awhile before I gave it a try and I was very surprised that this formula had a completely different texture.

Besides having a mint flavour this one had very fine granules of sugar imbedded into the product.  Although I loved the one I had always used, this one was so much easier to use.  It glided on easily and just a couple of passes on the lips and the job was complete!  The mint flavour and tingling was a nice bonus.  I removed the excess with a face cloth.  Although there are plenty of moisturizing ingredients, I still had to follow up with a balm after treatment.  There were also different flavours available and I’m not sure if they all have the same texture as this one but you better believe, I will be looking for them!  This is a quick, effective and inexpensive lip exfoliant, you really can’t pass this one by!
